Day 1

Every project has a starting point. This is mine. I have some unexpected free time this summer. So, let's do something random, shall we? This will be where I will be reporting my summer activities/assignments and where y'all can tell me what childhood summer activities I SHOULD be doing.

So tell your friends. Tell your friends' friends. And live vicariously through me as I live vicariously through you!

  3. So, one of my favorite summer memories as a kid was, climbing trees.
We lived on 11 acres at the time and there were so many amazing trees with sloping branches and welcoming bowers for kids who dared risk a long drop to the forest floor.
I'd often grab one of the books I was reading at the time, stuff it my back waist band and ascend one of my usually "climin' spots" right around dusk. Then, nuzzled in the comforting crook of a Poplar or White Oak, I'd get lost in my book until it was too dark to see.
At that point I'd just lie back and watch the stars from underneath a leafy bower, and contemplate my place in this big, wide universe. (At least, as much as my 12 year old brain would let me.)
Some of the most real and wonderful times of my childhood happened then and there.

Climb a tree girl, climb it!

  4. My favorite summer-time activities always included water. I pretty much lived at the pool. My neighbor had a water slide at her pool which was a huge neighborhood attraction. I also loved it when neighbors set up slip-n-slides and water sprinklers in their yards for us kids. And you couldn't keep us out of the neighborhood creek! We went creek walking every chance we got!
